How to calculate trip fuel cost and saving fuel tips
The maths is simple. First work out the litres you need: litres = distance ÷ mileage. Then
multiply by the price: cost = litres × price per litre. For example, a 300 km trip in a car that
does 15 km per litre needs 20 litres; at ₹100 per litre that is ₹2,000. A round trip doubles the
distance, so it doubles both the litres and the cost. Splitting between people simply divides the total by the
number of travellers.
To cut your fuel bill, keep your tyres properly inflated, avoid hard acceleration and braking, remove unnecessary weight from the boot, and service the engine on time. Driving at a steady speed in the right gear and switching off the engine at long stops all improve mileage, which directly lowers the cost of every trip you take.
