How to calculate a salary hike percentage
To find your new salary from a hike, multiply your current salary by one plus the hike percentage:
New salary = Current × (1 + Hike% / 100), and the Increase = New − Current. To work
the other way and find the hike percentage from two salaries, use
Hike% = (New − Current) / Current × 100.
Example: if your current salary is ₹50,000 and you get a 20% hike, your new salary is 50,000 × (1 + 20/100) = ₹60,000, an increase of ₹10,000. Reversing it, going from ₹50,000 to ₹60,000 is (60,000 − 50,000) / 50,000 × 100 = a 20% hike. A negative result simply means a pay cut, which the calculator shows in red.
