Free Rotate & Flip Image Tool

Need to rotate an image that came out sideways, or mirror a selfie so the text reads the right way? This free online tool lets you rotate by 90° left or right, flip horizontally or vertically, and fine-tune the angle with a slider — all with a live preview. Download the result as a full-resolution PNG, JPG or WebP. It’s completely free and private: your photo is processed right in your browser and never uploaded anywhere.

How to use

  1. Upload an image by dragging it in or clicking to choose a file.
  2. Tap Rotate left or Rotate right to turn it in 90° steps.
  3. Use Flip horizontal or Flip vertical to mirror the picture.
  4. Drag the fine rotation slider for any angle between −180° and +180°.
  5. Pick a format and click Download image to save the corrected photo.

When you need to rotate or flip an image

Photos taken on a phone are often stored with an EXIF “orientation” tag instead of the pixels being physically rotated. That works on your phone, but when the image is opened somewhere that ignores the tag, it suddenly appears sideways or upside down. Rotating the image here bakes the correct orientation into the pixels themselves, so it looks right everywhere — in documents, on websites and in email.

Flipping is just as handy. Front-facing cameras usually mirror selfies, which reverses any text in the shot; a horizontal flip puts it back to normal. Designers also flip images to face a subject the other way, and a vertical flip is perfect for reflections. Because the canvas is resized to the rotated bounding box, even an arbitrary angle keeps all four corners intact instead of cropping them, and the export stays at the original full resolution.

Frequently asked questions

Is this rotate and flip tool free and private?
Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, and your image is processed entirely in your browser using the HTML canvas. It is never uploaded to any server.
Does rotating reduce the image quality or resolution?
No. The tool draws your picture at its natural resolution and exports at full size. For 90 degree turns and flips there is no quality loss at all, and PNG output is completely lossless.
Why do my corners not get cut off at odd angles?
When you rotate by an arbitrary angle the tool resizes the canvas to the rotated bounding box, so the whole picture always fits. The empty corners are filled with your chosen background, transparent, white or black.
Can I save the result as a JPG or PNG?
Yes. Choose PNG for lossless quality and transparency, JPG for the smallest file, or WebP for a good balance. The download keeps the original full resolution.
Will this fix a sideways phone photo permanently?
Yes. Rotating here bakes the correct orientation into the pixels, so the saved image looks right everywhere, even in apps that ignore the EXIF orientation tag.
